At St. Marys, our Science curriculum is designed to ignite pupils’ curiosity about the natural world, foster a deep respect for scientific enquiry, and equip them with the knowledge to understand the world around them. To deliver a rigorous and coherent science education, we follow a knowledge-rich curriculum . Structured carefully across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, the PKC framework ensures that core scientific concepts—such as forces, materials, living things, and energy—are systematically introduced, revisited, and deepened from Early Years through to Year 6.

Through this approach, substantive scientific knowledge is seamlessly integrated with practical 'working scientifically' skills. Pupils learn to ask testable questions, plan and conduct fair tests, collect and analyse data, and draw evidence-based conclusions. By exploring the groundbreaking work of historical and modern scientists alongside hands-on investigations, our pupils build a strong scientific vocabulary and develop the critical thinking skills needed to question, explain, and appreciate the physical and biological phenomena of our planet.
