As a Church of England school, Collective Worship is at the heart of our daily life and plays an important role in nurturing our Christian vision and values. It provides a special opportunity for our school community to come together to reflect, pray, celebrate and learn. Through worship, children are encouraged to explore and live out our core values of Excellence, Forgiveness, Kindness, Courage, Respect and Resilience, helping them to grow spiritually, morally, socially and emotionally. Our worship is inclusive and invitational, welcoming everyone to participate in a way that is meaningful and respectful of their own beliefs and experiences.
Collective Worship takes place in a variety of forms, including whole-school worship, class worship and special services led by staff, pupils, clergy and members of our local church community. Through Bible stories, prayer, music, reflection and discussion, children learn how Christian teachings can guide them in their everyday lives. Worship provides opportunities to celebrate achievements, consider important issues and strengthen our sense of belonging within our school family.
On Fridays, we gather together for our Celebration Worship, where we recognise and celebrate the many successes of our pupils. During this special time, we award Star of the Week certificates to children who have demonstrated outstanding effort, achievement or progress. We also celebrate a Values Champion, recognising a child who has particularly demonstrated our weekly focus value through their words and actions. These celebrations encourage children to strive for excellence, make positive choices and inspire one another to live out our school motto:
"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Throughout the year, our worship reflects the seasons of the Christian calendar, including Harvest, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. We encourage children to think deeply about their place in the world, develop compassion for others and consider how they can make a positive difference in their communities. Through Collective Worship, we aim to help every child flourish, grow in faith and character, and become confident, caring citizens of the future.
