At St. Marys, our Computing curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the computational thinking, creativity, and technical skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. To deliver a rich and progressive education, we follow the Teach Computing curriculum developed by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE). Built on a spiral model, our curriculum regularly revisits and expands upon key core areas—including Computer Systems and Networks, Programming, Data and Information, and Creating Media—ensuring children build confidence, retain knowledge, and systematically build on prior learning as they move through the school.
Through hands-on, practical units, pupils learn not only how to use technology, but how it works behind the scenes. From designing algorithms and writing code to editing media and understanding global networks, children develop into analytical problem-solvers and confident creators. Underlying every lesson is a strong focus on digital literacy and online safety. We empower our pupils to use technology respectfully, critically, and responsibly, preparing them to navigate the modern digital landscape safely and effectively.
